What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is the treatment of injury and pain relating to movement of the body. We use physical means to aid your body’s own healing process.

What kind of treatment can I expect to have?

We are experienced and skilled manual therapists with a “hands on” approach. We use specialist advanced techniques to treat problems relating to muscles, nerves, joints and the spine. At eachy consultation we assess your symptoms, make a diagnosis and then treat the cause. We will provide therapeutic exercises to speed your return to health and fitness.

Quality Assurance?

Our physiotherapists take part in a continuous programme of professional development and skill improvement to ensure that the most beneficial approach to your problem is used. Our purpose built clinic has state of the art equipment for the treatment of pain and to speed up the healing process. We can employ therapeutic laser, ultrasound, TENS and interferential treatment if we feel it is appropriate for your problem.

How long are appointments?

All appointments are usually 30 minutes, but this may be longer if discussed and agreed with the physiotherapist.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments prescribed will depend on the physiotherapist’s assessment findings, and this can vary from individual to individual. You will also be given advice on self management of your problem.

Is there a waiting list for treatment?

There is no waiting list, and we always try to give clients an appointment on the same day or within the next couple of days.

Do I need a referral from a doctor?

No. All clients can self refer and the physiotherapist will advise you if they feel a doctor’s referral is appropriate. achillesphysio has a good working relationship with the local GP surgeries in the area.

What are the payment terms?

Most self-referring patients will pay after each appointment. We take cash, cheques and most debit cards. We will invoice insurance companies on your behalf at the end of the treatment.
